OLA offers a wide variety of electives to allow students to pursue areas of interest or learn more about possible careers. See the list of elective offerings here.
For students wishing to design their own class, OLA has a process for guiding students through completing an Independent Study for high school credit.
OLA supports students in finding and establishing internships with business mentors so the student can earn credit while getting "on the job" career-related experience.
Students holding a wage-earning job can earn elective credit for the time spent on the job.
The state's new graduation requirements include scoring at a minimum level in math and English on a state-designated assessment. For students unable to reach the minimum score on one or both of those assessments, Capstone Projects provide an alternative way for students to meet the state requirement by demonstrating proficiency in math or English. Capstone Projects are also great resume builders for college applications.
OLA has Concurrent Enrollment agreements with many colleges around the state. OLA students may be eligible to earn college credits for approved classes and OLA will pay the tuition. The classes count for both college credit and high school credit.
OLA offers French and Spanish through APEX learning.
