## Middle School Course Offerings

**8th Grade**

8th graders take four core classes - English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. All 8th grade curriculum is aligned with state standards. English, Science, and Social Studies are teacher developed and incorporate both the academic component of the standards and the 21st Century Skills. For Math we use Aleks which allows for great differentiation both

*between*classes (8th graders can take 8th Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, or Geometry) and

*within*classes (no two students have the exact same path through a class - individual strengths and growth areas are identified and each student's curriculum is adjusted accordingly). Using Aleks also allows our math teacher to work with students in real time one-on-one and with small groups to provide direct help and instruction. All 8th graders take PE and at least one other elective class. We have a strong science fair program for students interested in that.

**7th Grade**

7th graders take four core classes - English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. All 7th grade curriculum is aligned with state standards.
